Les Palmiers is a bed and breakfast located in the peaceful village of Chamarel. It lays
approximately 1hour from the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam airport and just about 1 hour from
Port-Louis; the capital of the island. Les Palmiers is the perfect place for an ecotourist who wants
to discover the depths of nature in Mauritius. When staying at this farm with its own restaurant,
one can help the farmer, Mr. Prem, to harvest local fruits such as bananas or pineapples at his
fields up in the mountains. You can also have the opportunity to go hunting with him in nearby
forests.
If you like cooking, the lady of the house, Lalita, will be keen on teaching a typical Mauritian style
of cooking. You will be nicely surprised by the dedication of this hostess as she handles everything
herself; from the cooking to the serving of the food.
Chamarel has its own weather, which means breezy throughout the year, so bring a sweater or
jacket when visiting. Summer days may be hot, but evenings and early mornings are almost
always nice and fresh. In winter it may rain everywhere on the island except for Chamarel on the
other hand it can be raining at Chamarel when it is sunny everywhere else.
